昨有大陸媒體報導說，氣象預報稱天津當地將降雨，現場700噸氰化納遇水將可能產生劇毒。對此，天津市環境科學院高級工程師王連卿說，氰化納確實是水溶性的物質，但事故現場已進行了封堵，所有可溶性化學物質都被存留在現場，現正考慮用其他方式進行封堵。他說，一般的雨量，將不會造成影響。
